Watkins Glen

Saturday night my buddy Tony and I hopped in my car and headed to the famed hamlet of Watkins Glen, in the finger lakes region of upstate New York, for Sundays Indy Car race. After a 4 and a half our drive, we arrived in the early hours of the morning only to find all the hotel and motel rooms in Watkins Glen had been already rented for the race and the July 4th weekend. Go figure. A half hour drive back to the next town and we rented a room for the night. We hit the pillow at 3:30 am and were ready to go for 8 am.
Breakfast of champions. It took a couple of minutes for Tony to figure out what day it was.Headed to the track. Hey -- who's driving?!The famed Watkins Glen.
Me, happy as a pig in shit, track side.
The princess, Danica Patrick, had her own merchandise trailer and was the most popular driver by far, when drivers were introduced.
Voted the most famous vehicle in the world. Ladies and gentleman, the original Batmobile -- POW!
The track is spread through the hills of upstate New York, and is over 3 miles long. Track access is unbelievable. In various areas around the track, you are allowed to camp. And many people do. Not a lot of tents, but tons of campers and Winnebago's. These guys are here all weekend long and have some crazy set-ups. They know how to do it up right.
All this walking was hot work, which lead us to another favorite American pass time, Tailgating!
Getting ready to go racing!
Green flag...
Another reason why Indy Car fans are better then NASCAR fans. Written on the inside of a port-o-potty, "Jeff Gordon sucks balls".
The trilla from West Hilla, Paul Tracy out early.
Hanging out in the winners circle waiting for race winner, Justin Wilson to show up.
And here he comes.
Congratulations to Justin Wilson, his second win,and Team owner Dayle Coyne's first win after 20 years of trying.
Second place went to Ryan Brisco.
Third place went to Scott Dixion.
Me and Raphael Matos.Me and Milka Duno.Me and Thrilla, Paul Tracy.
