Watkins Glen: Qualifying

We arrived in Geneva, NY, late Friday night. Geneva is 53 kms from Watkins Glen, the only motel I could find when I called around last February looking for accommodations! It was probably a good thing, because the price was right and it was only a half hour drive to the track. We made it to the track on Saturday in time for qualifying. We had not bought tickets before hand, deciding instead to just go with the general admission tickets, and the paddock pass because really, at this track, its all you really need. Total cost: $95 USD. There are amazing vantage points from all around the in-field and GA admission gets you there. But as an added bonus there is also two grandstand areas open to GA ticket holders as well, and on Saturday all grandstands were open to everyone, including the pit terrace seating, which offered an amazing view of the pits which I took full advantage of.
I finally get a snap of the ever elusive Dario Franchitti without the wife.
Marco Andretti contemplates the up-coming qualifying session.
The legend himself, former driver, now team owner, A.J. Foyt
Team Penske Driver, Will Power won the pole.I even had the opportunity to meet the famous Meesh Beer, blogger extraordinaire. You can check out her blog, here.
And of course, it was nice to see Paul Tracy back on track doing his thing.
