The Adventures of Mad Mal and Hobbes (and Calvin too!!) turned 2 the other day. I know, I know, hard to believe, but true. I have been blogging away happily for over 2 years now and surprise, surprise, I still haven't lost interest. And a large part of that goes to you, my regular readers. It always surprises me to hear friends, family and even people I really don't know, reference something from this blog in conversation with me and I have to stop and think, how do you know that? Oh, right, I posted it on this blog. So thank you, because without you, this wouldn't be half as much fun. It's nice to know that I'm not just talking to myself.

Today is my nephew Dave's 19th birthday. Happy Birthday, welcome to the age of majority! Dave is not home for his birthday this year. He is up north working for the summer planting trees. He called last week to say hello. He says he works five on and one off. He lives in a tent city with all the other tree planters. He has to supply the tent, they supply the food and transportation. He says they are up by six for breakfast, bus leaves at 7am sharp. They drive an hour along a dirt road, then another 45 minutes along no road. Then its tree planting all day until six when the bus picks you up and returns you to camp. Then dinner and bed, cause you're too tired to do anything else. Its is advised not to have food stuff in your tent or risk a visit from the bears. It has even snowed a couple of times. Sounds like a lot of hard work, but he definitely seemed to be enjoying it. Good on ya!

Just a little blog that has been around for a year today!
I can't believe I have actually stuck with this for as long as I have. What can I say? Its been fun, and as long as it remains so, I will continue to post stories that interest me, injected with random images from my life.
I know I have some regular readers out there, and to you I say thank you. Because without you, all I really would be doing is talking to myself.
So I hope you have enjoyed the ride so far. I promise to keep posting and will try to keep it interesting as long as you promise to keep coming back for more.
