Racing Returns To Toronto

I took a bike ride out to the Exhibition grounds the other day to check out the construction progress on the Indy Car street course that snakes its way through the fair grounds and onto Lakeshore blvd and as you can see, it is coming along just fine! There was no race last year, due to the demise of the Champ car series and that made me sad. But this year its back under a new name and new ownership. A lot of the same drivers from the Champ Car series who now race in the unified Indy series will be there, including home town fave, Paul "the thrilla from West Hilla" Tracy.
As I mentioned before, I'm finding it hard to get into this Indy Car Racing series like I used to with Champ Car, or even like I do with Formula 1. But I know once I see those cars back where they belong, racing up Lakeshore blvd, that might be just what I need to throw my full support back behind this series.

Movie Movie Everywhere

Is it just me or does it seem everywhere you look these days there's a movie or TV show being filmed here in the big city?
Check it out ... movie trailers stacked up filming along Commisioners road.Filming on the boardwalk in the Beach.

Doing The Don

So far I have kept to my plan of mountain biking more this year. Last Saturday, my buddy Tony and I hit the Don Valley for an early morning ride. Its a pretty technical course and the goal is to make it through the entire 1okm loop without unclipping our pedals or stopping or falling, or crashing. As you can see, its a pretty ambitious goal. But we're still early in the season, so anything is possible.

Doing The Don, Take 2

So yesterday seemed like the perfect day to hit the Don Valley for an afternoon ride. I was on days off and my buddy Tony had a free afternoon. So we met up for a ride. And as we started off I noticed that I still had not loosened my clipless pedals. Last time I went out, I couldn't get my shoe unclipped fast enough and crashed. I had meant to loosen it but forgot.
As we started off Tony asked me if I had done it and I said no. He then asked if I wanted to stop and adjust them as he had the tools with him.
"No, I should be OK", I said ... famous last words ...
So I crash again, because I couldn't unclip fast enough.
This is the branch that I landed on...... and this was my back the next day.
Maybe I should stick to my road bike.
Thanks to Tony for getting my camera out of my pocket and taking pictures while I tried to figure out if I was going to die or not. Good work buddy, good work.
For those of you keeping count, that's Don Valley 2, Mad Mal 0.

Pssst, Can You Keep A Secret?

Looking for something to do this weekend?
How about going to see a movie at the drive-in? Drive-in?! Do they even exist anymore?
Well have I got a surprise for you!
Did you know that there is a drive-in theatre right in the heart of downtown Toronto?
That's right, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night in the summer, the driving range at Polson Pier (formerly the Docks), turns into a drive-in theatre at dusk. Its always a double feature with the newest movie playing first and then a an older one after.
This weekend its Angels and Demons at 9pm and Drag Me To Hell at 11:20pm.
Check out their web site right, here.
